2) What type of heating do you use? What is the cost of this? Do I have to pay water & sewage
The units are heated with electric baseboard. The cost depends upon your life style. The average electric bill is between $150.00 - $200.00 per month. The co-op at this time pays the water & sewage costs
3) Can I see a unit before I apply?
Yes you can see a unit, contact the office by calling (519) 653-2172 to arrange a viewing time or e-mail us by using the e-mail link in the menu to the left.
4) How do I apply to the co-op?
You have to print the application found on this web site. Then mail it to the address on the home page with a cheque for the number of applicants x $15.00. Then a credit check and landlord check is done. Once passed that stage, an interview is scheduled and if things are fine you will be asked to pay the maintenance deposit which is equal to one months housing charge.
5) What am I responsible for?
You are responsible for the following
- follow the by-laws set out by the co-op
- paying housing charge by close of business on the first business day of the month
- paying your own cable, electricity and telephone bills
- live peaceably with respect for your neighbours
- participate in the ongoing development and operation of the co-op by contributing a few hours per month on the Board of Directors or committees
- maintaining your unit (mowing the lawn, shovelling snow)
6) Is there subsidy available?
There is no subsidy available at this time.
7) Are pets allowed?
Yes pets are allowed. You may have one cat and one dog per household.
8) Are the basements finished?
Some of the basements are finished and they where done by previous members. A majority are not done. If you wish to do so you must submit a unit improvement request.
